About this work
The sitter holds a rolled-up map of (probably) Maastricht in his right hand. It bears the inscription: F.t Koning Willem. On his chest he wears three chivalric orders. Below the portrait are the name and function of the sitter. Below that is a laurel wreath consisting of laurel and oak leaves with the words: tribute to courage, policy, and loyalty.
