About this work

Large representation of the fair in a village. To the right a stage is being built for a theatrical performance by a rederijkers company and a farce is being performed for the assembled audience. The drummer stands on the ladder while the rederijkers coat of arms is hung above the stage. With peasants and elegant citizens. Further dancing peasants, a meal at an inn, making music, drinking, playing children and vomiting. In the background a goose-riding or bird-shooting contest. With inscription in Latin and Dutch.
