The Funeral of the Dutch Etching Club

Satirical print depicting the burial of the Nederlandsche Etsclub. The Etching Club dissolved itself on 13 January 1896. In the front of the procession, the hearse with wreaths 1885–1895; behind it walk the members: Jan Veth (holding a sign 'eulogy'), Philip Zilcken, Maurits van der Valk, Marinus van der Maarel, Etienne Bosch, Anton L. Koster, Hendrik J. Haverman, and Jan Toorp. Marius Bauer has depicted himself as the treasurer of the Etching Club with a bag inscribed 'debt'. Behind this group follow the female members in a carriage: Etha Fles, Wally Moes, and Thérèse Schwartze. At the rear of the procession, 'The Old Guard'. Published as a supplement to 'De Kroniek' of 19 January 1896.
