About this work

On the pedestal an image of the Battle of Waterloo, called 'Battle above Brussels'. Hanging on the column are the portraits of Blücher, Wellington and the Prince of Orange, the future William II. A young woman adorns the column with flower garlands. Behind the column the flags of the allies are draped. Below the representation a Dutch verse on the victory, signed M.v.L.
