About this work
Christ is laid in the rock tomb by Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. They are surrounded by mourning women, including Mary and Mary Magdalene. Two women anoint his body. The scene is framed in an ornamental border decorated with flowers, plants, and animal bones.
