About this work
Argus with the many eyes in his face rests as a shepherd in a landscape near a hut. A little group of cattle with two cows and two goats stands a little way from him. One of the cows probably represents Io but she cannot be distinguished from the other cow. Above in the sky Mercury is depicted.
