About this work
The sitter sits in an armchair, in her left hand she holds an open book. She wears a brooch on her chest and a cap on her head. Behind her hangs a painting depicting a cemetery, presumably the cemetery near the Bergkerk in Zwolle. Below the painting hang two family coats of arms, including that of the Van Pallandt family, and a count's coronet.
