About this work

Title print from a book about the victory of the coalition Poland-Austria and the Holy Roman Empire over the Ottoman army. The print shows the battlefield of the liberation of Vienna in 1683. In the middle of the print the Polish king Jan Sobieski, who makes his way on horseback through an Ottoman military unit. The Turks fall under his sword and the weapons of his cohort. One of the Polish soldiers conquers the Ottoman banner. The print has a French and Dutch inscription: 'Capture of the great Standard and Defeat of the Turks' - 'Prise du grand Estendart et defaicte entiere des Turcqs'.
