About this work
Figures stand and sit to the left and right of Minerva. The figures on the left represent peace under the leadership of Venus, holding palm branches. Thus sits a river god with a cornucopia and a goddess representing the arts. To the left of the throne sits an owl, symbol of Minerva's wisdom. The figures to the right of her represent war. She receives weapons offered by soldiers, under the leadership of Mars.
