About this work

Tomb of Pope Urbanus VIII in the St. Peter's Basilica of Rome, by Bernini. On top of the tomb the seated statue of Urbanus VIII. He makes a blessing gesture. Left the statue of Caritas, right that of Justitia. In the middle of the tomb death writing the name of the deceased in a book. Above the tomb the personal papal coat of arms of Urbanus VIII, held up by two putti. Left, right of and under the tomb portraits of other members of the Barberini family.
