About this work

The offerings of Cain and Abel. In the foreground, Cain's altar, upon which the fruits of the land are offered. The smoke of the offering does not rise. In the background, Abel's altar, upon which sheep are offered. The smoke rises. A sunbeam shines on Abel, who kneels with his arms stretched toward the sky. God accepts Abel's offering. In the foreground, Cain looks fearfully at the sky. The print has a Latin inscription.
