About this work

August von Braunschweig-Lüneburg, Duke of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, seated in a study. He holds a pen in his left hand and the paper of an open book in his right hand. On the table lies writing equipment and a paper with a German text about the birth of Christ. Behind him an open window and a fortress and landscape in the distance. In the upper part of the window a coat of arms. Through the open window the Krokodilsberg of the fortress Wolfenbüttel is visible.
