About this work
Mary shows the Christ Child; beside her stands Joseph. The shepherds and three angels gather in adoration around the Child. From heaven, the star shines upon his manger. In the foreground, a bag and a field flask. Two angels in the air hold a scroll: "Gloria in excelsis Deo". The ox and the donkey eat from their manger. In the background, the Annunciation to the shepherds. In the margin, a two-line inscription in Latin.
