About this work

Depiction of the proverb "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" (Prov. 16:18). A landscape with a couple in luxurious clothing on horseback, riding past a beggar leaning against a tree stump. Behind them, a fight between two men. At the top, a cartouche with the proverb in German.
