About this work

A feast takes place in the heavens organized by Romulus in honor of the gods. He stands before Jupiter, who rests on a couch, and intercedes with him on behalf of his successors. At his feet an instrument indicating how long they can speak. On the right, emperors Julius Caesar, Augustus, Trajan, and Marcus Aurelius. On the left, Hercules pointing to Alexander the Great, who looks thoughtfully at the others. In the margin, a five-line caption in French.
