About this work
Three naked putti play before a pyramid. One of them is blowing soap bubbles. The putti are surrounded by symbols of transience such as a globe, a soap bubble, a skull, and an ancient sculpted head. These objects point to the passing of time. The book and the painter's palette can be interpreted as signifying that art conquers death.
