About this work

Various beggars, fools, and musicians. Some lean on crutches or have a wooden leg. Below the image in the margin, a four-line text in Dutch. In the time when this print was created, 'crippled' was a generic term to describe a physical disability of the lower body. This print is intended as social satire.
