About this work

When the water had receded, Deucalion and Pyrrha received from the oracle Themis the advice to cover their faces. They throw stones behind them which turn into men and women. In the background the temple of the oracle. In the margin the title in French, English, German and Dutch. The image is decorated with an ornamental border.
