About this work

The nymph Echo was in love with Narcissus, but her love was not returned. The mourning Echo withers away in the cave until only her voice remains. On the left in the background Narcissus at the edge of the pond, who falls in love with his own reflection. In the margin the title in French, English, German and Dutch. The scene is decorated with an ornamental border.
