About this work

In a palace the Pope and Emperor and their court are gathered. The Emperor gives the Pope a scroll with privileges, the Pope gives the Emperor in return for the privileges the orb. Through the window St. Peter's Square in Rome is visible. With an explanation of the scene in French.
