Allegory on the Arrival of the Prince of Orange in England, 1688

A portrait of the Prince, with (English?) crown, is held up by Zeal, Courage and Discipline, at the back Steadfast Faith. The recipient is another woman (England) with a crown and the bundle of arrows, she offers a treaty in return. On the left also present: Prudence or Religion and Strength, in the air portraits of predecessors from the House of Orange-Nassau. On the right Parliament with the rudder of state, Pallas, Mercury and putti. In the middle a blindfolded old man with crowns (Mad Drift) is trampled on the ground. In the distance a battle with the French. On the right in front a tablet with an allegorical representation of the favored concord (Concordia) between the Netherlands and England. In front the verse in 6 stanzas of 6 lines under the representation.
