About this work
The man sits in a chair at his desk by an open window. In the window stands a vase with flowers. He writes on a piece of paper. Around him lie books, shoes and tools. It could be the 16th-century printer Robert Estienne. This one is often depicted by Hendrik Albert van Trigt and resembles this man.
