About this work
The self-sacrifice of preacher Hambroeck on Formosa. After having personally conveyed the request for surrender from the Chinese to the Dutch commanders of Fort Zeelandia on Formosa, Hambroeck takes leave of his daughters and returns to the Chinese pirate Coxinga on May 24, 1661. In October 1661, he is murdered by the Chinese.
