About this work

A group of soldiers looks with raised arms upwards to a warrior standing on top of a city wall. In the foreground a soldier with sword and shield surrounded by two soldiers who have their hand against their head is struck. This print was possibly made for the tragedy "Artemines" (1745) by Lucretia Wilhelmina van Merken.
