About this work

Portrait of the later German Emperor Charles VI, as a young man with the Spanish crown next to him. Charles wears a chain with the sign of the Golden Fleece around his neck. Under the portrait a mention of him as Charles III, King of Spain. During the War of the Spanish Succession Charles considered himself King of Spain.
