About this work

Portrait of Maximilian II (Holy Roman Emperor). He wears a broad chain with the insignia of the Order of the Golden Fleece around his neck. The portrait is framed by a border decoration with putti, laurel wreaths, banners, and armor. In both upper corners, an eagle, in the center his coat of arms. Below the portrait, a pedestal with his name, titles, and a short biography in Latin.
