About this work

Portrait of Archduke Charles of Austria, who considered and proclaimed himself King Charles III of Spain during the War of the Spanish Succession. From 1711 to 1740 he was Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. He wears a chain with the badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece and holds a royal crown in his hands. In the background the siege of a city. Under the image a six-line inscription.
