About this work
Amor has spread his arms in a speaking gesture toward a woman busy picking flowers. Just as one continues to pick flowers when one always sees more beautiful ones, so a lover can exchange lovers until only the worst remains. Nineteenth emblem from Emblemata Amatoria.
