About this work

Vignette with the portrait of the personified Vengeance, placed in an ornate frame that is partially shrouded in smoke. At the bottom of the frame a devilish head with snake hair and two crossed burning torches are depicted. Vengeance holds a dagger and a burning torch in her hands, her head is adorned with a helmet on which a head of a fire-breathing bear is placed. The print is part of a series of book illustrations on virtues and vices.
