About this work

Portrait of Lieutenant-General Karl Rabenhaupt, Baron de Sucha, hereditary lord of Lichtenberg and Fremesnich, Lord of Grumbach. Rabenhaupt played a leading role in the defense of Groningen and the capture of Coevorden (1672). In the background to the left, a besieged city (possibly Groningen). Below the portrait, maps with 'D'Oude Schans', 'Niewer Schans', and 'Coeverden'. In the margin are his name and titles.
