About this work

The Spaniards under the Count of Mansfeld driven out of the Bommelerwaard by the Count of Hohenlohe by breaching the dikes, 22 December 1585. The Spanish soldiers trapped by the water are eventually rescued; this episode is also known as the Miracle of Empel. At the top, in a banner, the title and legend A-M in Latin.
