About this work
The entry of the Dutch occupation force by the corps of civic musicians into Deventer, on 26 April 1814. A Dutch battalion of infantry, preceded by an officer (Baron Sweerts de Landas) on horseback, is led into the city by a music corps. With cheering people before the ramparts of Deventer. Visible from left to right: the Middle or Inner Brink Gate, the old Inner Brink Gate, and the tower of the Lebuïnus Church on the Grote Kerkhof (with flag) and the Broederen Church. On the right a Jewish peddler.
