Saint John of the Cross

Saint John of the Cross, founder of the Carmelite order. In the wilderness he kneels before a crucifix. Both the crucifix and Saint John each possess a scroll with text. John takes off the habit of his order. Under the crucifix lies the skull of Adam, symbol for the washing away of original sin by the death of Christ. Next to Saint John lie two books. The open first book contains the title of one of his mystical works: 'LLama del Amor'. The print has a Latin inscription.
