About this work

Portrait with a round frame of Johannes Fernelius (Jean Francois Fernel), court physician to Francis I. Bust to the left. The cartouche of the portrait shows an owl in the middle above, with two cats to the left and right. Bottom left a standing lion and bottom right a standing bear. Below the cartouche an inscription of four lines in Latin. Above the cartouche the name of the person portrayed.
