About this work
Satirical print on the public execution of the Amsterdam usurer and fraudster Aron Abrams. The personification of Truth reveals Deceit on the right in the foreground by tearing off his black cloak. In the background Justice sits enthroned with sword and scales in her hands. She tramples and overcomes Perjury, Envy and Self-interest under her feet. On the left is Aron Abrams, wearing a fox skin around his waist, bound to the pillory as Vice. He is being beaten with a rod.
