About this work
On a clearing in a camp near a fortress, many soldiers watch how a man, bound to a stake, is shot dead by a firing squad. On the ground next to the stake already lie two corpses. Below the image a six-line French verse. This print is part of a series of 17 (18 incl. title print) prints depicting various kinds of misery that warfare brings with it.
