About this work

In a study a scholar gives an anatomy lesson to his pupils. The master stands before the table, at which his four students sit, and explains something about the skull he holds under his left hand. One of the pupils makes notes with a quill. Both the master and the pupils are clad in 17th-century clothing. In the background stands a bookcase and on the shelf on the wall stand among others a skull and a bottle.
