About this work
View of a village on Texel. Along the road to the village stands a half-eroded hill, the so-called Sommeltjesberg. A man is busy examining the inside of the hill. Two gravediggers stand next to the hill waiting. The story goes that in this mountain the Sommeltjes lived. Small creatures that come out of the mountain at night and perform good deeds on the island.
