About this work

Philip the Good encounters Willem van Nieuwen, a shoemaker, drunk in the forest. He decides to play a trick on him by taking him to the palace to sleep off his hangover there. In the morning Philip the Good's court has gathered around the bed. They wake him and make him believe he is the ruler.
