About this work

A woman in a room before an open fireplace. She is making up for the ball. A maid holds a mirror for her in which she examines her high hairstyle. A second maid sits kneeling before her and holds up her gown. Through the door on the right a man in a harlequin costume (travesti?) enters. Counterproof without inscription after the print published by Jan vander Bruggen, with inscription "Femme de qualité s'habillant pour Coure le Bal".
