About this work
Elijah is taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire, with horses in front. Elisha just catches his cloak. In the background it can be seen how Elisha subsequently strikes the water with Elijah's cloak so that it flows to the left and right and he can cross the river. With this he wins the recognition of the prophets on the other side. In the margin a three-line Biblical quotation from 2 Kings 2 in Latin.
