About this work

Standing woman, to the left, with dark curly hair on the forehead and along both sides of the face over which a folded cap is covered by a cap with turned-back brim of scalloped lace. Dressed in a gown consisting of a short bodice with low straight neckline, high waist, half-length straight sleeves and 7/8 undersleeves, on a long, ample skirt slightly dragging on the ground. In the neckline a neckerchief trimmed with a narrow strip (lace?), over which a double-folded neckerchief trimmed with a narrow strip of scalloped lace. This latter neckerchief is fastened at the neck. In the middle of the chest a bow. Double, turned-back cuffs trimmed with lace. Long, unadorned gloves. A small pair of scissors hangs with a large loop at the waist(?). No. 22 from the series Ornatus Muliebris Anglicanus.
