About this work
Jacob lies sleeping with his head on a stone, his staff, bag and flask beside him. To the right his dream is visible: a ladder to heaven, on which four angels walk. At the top of the ladder God enthrones. To the back left Jacob consecrates the stone on which he has slept by pouring oil over it.
