About this work

Three scenes on one sheet. Top: An angel on a cloud holding in one hand the flowering rod of Aaron for the tribe of Levi and in the other the rods of the other eleven tribes of Israel. Center: Moses and Eleazar stand by the dying Aaron. Eleazar has put on Aaron's priestly garments, as he will succeed his father. Center bottom a reference to the biblical text in Num. 20:28. The scene is framed in an ornamental border. Bottom: Incense burner.
