Furies Encourage Althaea to Burn Meleager's Log

Althaea, the mother of Meleager, throws the log associated with Meleager's life into the fire under the influence of two Furies. Meleager had killed his two uncles, his mother's brothers, in a dispute over the Caledonian boar. At Meleager's birth, the three Fates had decreed that he would not die until a certain log was consumed. In revenge, Althaea throws the log back into the fire.
