About this work

A vagrant, leaning on his walking stick and a knee crutch, passes a village situated on a river. The print is part of a series of twenty-six prints of beggars and vagrants. Some figures in this series are also designated as 'cripples', which in the seventeenth century was a generic term for people with physical disabilities.
