About this work

Cartoon on the Italian losses in the Battle of Adowa on 1 March 1896 during the war with Ethiopia (Abyssinia). In the middle the Italian King Umberto I almost loses his crown in the wind; to the right the defeated Italian Prime Minister Francesco Crispi lies on the ground. To the left in the clouds the victorious Ethiopian Negus. Published in the supplement of 'De Kroniek' of 15 March 1896.
