About this work
Seated on Pegasus, Perseus strikes with his sword at the sea monster below him. Putti stand around the Andromeda chained to a rock, while Amor loosens her shackles. Her desperate parents watch from the beach. In the background a city with, among other things, a pyramid. Below the image an explanatory text in French. Scene from Ovid's Metamorphoses (Met. IV, 665-739) and Philostratus' Imagines (Im. I 29).
