About this work
To test her, Cephalus, in disguise, attempts to seduce his wife Procris. Procris flees away in shame. A putto holds a laurel wreath over both of their heads. Other putti look on or play with hunting dogs. In the background a ruin. Below the image an explanatory text in French. Scene from Ovid's Metamorphoses (Met. VII, 795-866).
