About this work

A young woman, dressed in a short jacket with a brimmed hat, sits at a table with a bowl of oysters, a glass of wine, and a jug. She holds an oyster in her left hand. Behind her is a bed with closed curtains. To the left in the background, a second room where a woman watches a man open oysters. The entire scene is viewed through an arched window. The initials of the painter and the printmaker are placed in the wall above the window.
